Where HEROES Are Made Campaign

The Campaign to Renovate and Expand Schreiber

Help us fulfill our Chairman’s Challenge. Make a gift today!

In 1936, our hero Edna Schreiber began helping children and adults stricken with polio relearn to walk. What began as one woman’s calling has become a world-class therapeutic treatment center. One thing has remained constant for 87 years: Our therapists make miracles happen every day.

We began our $12.4 million Where Heroes are Made capital campaign in October 2022, and one year later, through the generosity of out community, have reached 98% of our fundraising goal.

We’ve achieved the first of our campaign goals. Bringing all of Schreiber’s services together under one roof with a new three-story addition. As renovation to our existing facility begins, we turn our attention to building the Kids’ Care Fund, a sustainable revenue stream designed to support Schreiber’s services now and into the future.

As we did in 1936, Schreiber continues to treat children across our region regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Revenue from program services – primarily reimbursements from Medicaid – provides the lion’s share of our operating budget. However, they do not nearly cover all our costs. On average, parents’ insurance and government assistance pay $74 less per session than the actual cost of treatment. That means, every time our therapists help a child walk, speak or learn to hold their mom or dad’s hand, Schreiber loses money.

The Kids’ Care Fund is designed to serve as both a long- and short-term savings account to meet these uncompensated costs. Schreiber has always promised that no child will be turned away. Help us keep that promise. Become a Schreiber Hero today.
